What are the safety measures in place to help prevent the spread of COVID 19 at the clinic?

Please read over the post “What to expect when returning for treatment – COVID 19 Clinic Protocol”

How much does a regular session cost?

The first treatment for regular patients (14 years old and older) is 90min and 200$ + GST. It includes a full medical history taking, physical evaluation and osteopathic treatment.

Follow up treatments for regular patients (14 years old and older) are 70-75min and 179$ + GST. It includes a review of symptoms, a full physical evaluation and osteopathic treatment.

For children, 60 minute appointments are 134$+ GST for initial treatment as well as follow ups.

Is my session covered by health care?

Osteopathic treatment is not covered by your BC care card but more and more extended health care plans reimburse osteopathic treatments. The best thing is to check with your insurance policy.

What is treatment like?

An osteopathic treatment is always different to accommodate the patient who is treated in their totality and who is constantly changing. Heraclitus said it best- “you cannot step twice into the same stream”… not the same water, not the same individual!

What is consistent between treatments is that the osteopathic practitioner will look at the patient’s posture standing, sitting and lying down. In these three positions the osteopathic practitioner will place their hands on the patient’s body in specific locations to assess mobility (for example, the hips, the spine, the abdomen, the thorax, the cranium). This is why wearing shorts or yoga pants and a top that is lose or sports bra that shows the spine is helpful. The more information the osteopathic practitioner can gather through observation and palpation assessment the better they can help.

With the information that is collected from these mobility tests, the osteopathic practitioner pays particular attention to the tissues that are the most rigid, stuck and are struggling to express health. With these restricted areas in mind, combined with the symptoms that the person has shared in the history taking, an osteopathic practitioner draws on an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and inter-relationships within the body so that a pattern begins to unfold which directs this very individualized method of treatment.

From here, the osteopathic practitioner releases the restrictions by applying the appropriate technique depending on the specific tissue targeted. These techniques may include one or a combination of the following; myofascial release, craniosacral, osteo-articular adjustments, visceral manipulation to name a few.

Do you treat children?

Yes, I treat individuals of all ages 0-100+ !

Do I need to bring anything special along to my appointment?

If you can wear (or bring to change into) some yoga pants/gym shorts, a loose tank top/ T-shirt/bra that shows the spine, it makes things easier.

If you have any imaging results related to your condition, that is also helpful.
